The Survey Section edit fields contains the names of the Survey Sections to which the current shot (both station and vector) is assigned. Sections allow survey shots to be organized into groups, which can be colored, turned On/Off, or totaled as a group. Survey Section assignments cannot be changed or viewed from the "Listing" Editor.
To change the colors and plot assignments for individual Sections, select "Sections" from the Edit Menu. See that part of the reference for more information.
To change the section assignment for a station, use the arrow buttons provided. These arrow buttons are located to the right of the section edit fields. These buttons allow you to search for a particular section. Section numbers, corresponding to the assigned sections, are also listed. Editing the name in one of the section edit fields changes the name of the section, but does not change the actual section assignments.
Section Prompts
There are prompt check boxes corresponding to the different sets of sections. These check boxes allow prompting of section assignments for faster data entry and modification. If a prompt is not selected, section assignments (for the set represented by the check box) are modified only on the currently displayed shot. If the prompt check box is selected when a Section assignment is changed, the change will affect all following shots (with the same section assignment) until a shot is reached which belonged to a different section. (That explanation was probably about as clear as peanut butter... If you can explain it better, feel free to tell me how). Using section prompts allows either single shots, or long strings of shots, to be changed from one section to another quickly and easily.
